four loves. or i should say, four musings about love

July 16, 2009 § 2 Comments

i ve been thinking ALOT about this post. for about two weeks i ve been writing rewriting erasing adding crossing out and churning in my mind over and over words sentences thoughts feelings faces song lyrics scratch papers empty coffee cups three hours in starbucks at airports on my bed in my dreams with Jesus with mom with girl friends on g chat blah blah. i stopped ALOT too. kept thinking i was trying to convince myself to believe in what i think i should believe in. still undone. but we will never be perfect. o well. here i go:

what will one day
become of us
we ll grow as grass under their feet
no one here will ever know your name
and you still lie here next to me

if it takes another life
i ll wait for you
on the other side
everything that comes to me
as good
belongs to you
i ll count our blessings as i
wait for you
on the other side
good luck and i will see you through

get used to this
you re going to be alright
the world goes on with or without me
if i dont ever leave a thing behind
i ll still leave you without me

if it takes another life
i ll wait for you
on the other side
everything that comes to me
as good
belongs to you
i ll count our blessings as i
wait for you
on the other side
good luck and i will see you through

this comment will probably not be sufficient enough to appreciate the amount of effort and honesty that you’ve poured into these last 4 posts, but i thought that it would be nice to respond words for words. i like your song (it is a song, yes?)  i especially like the first stanza.  i hope to hear it someday.  it’s funny how one can think of love in so many ways.  it’s like water.  it comes in the form of oceans, rivers, raindrops, spit.  how can you define such a thing when it comes in so many different forms?  from reading your 4 viewpoints, ive found that it is easier to talk of it in the form of idealisms which are mentioned in shorter entries and harder to talk of it in the form of relationships which makes up for your longest entry.  i have to agree that relationships are hard.  im really really sucky when it comes to those too.  but we should not give up encouraging and loving each other the best ways that we can cuz that’s like the best thing we have.  keep on writing hatty!  always thank God for His blessings!in our constant search for love, im starting to wonder if love is the goal because the search always comes back insufficient.  God says to love Him and to love others.  in this sense love is the vessel, but the goals are Him and others.  if we focus on the vessel we may travel to many places but get no where.  a while back, i was reading C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity again and on one page, he commented that when most people say “God is love,” they often mean that “Love is God.”  im finding it hard to differentiate the two because we interchange God and love so much.  food for thought.
